SEND  - Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities

"Pupils who have special educational needs and/or disabilities are well supported to make good and sometimes rapid progress. Teaching for these pupils is strong and additional adults are deployed well to meet pupils’ individual needs. "  Ofsted 2017

Children with Special Needs

At Ladypool, the curriculum is designed to provide full access and opportunity for all children.  If a child has special need, we would adapt the curriculum to meet their individual needs.  We comply with the requirement set out in the new Code of Practice.  Within the teaching in a normal class setting, the teacher is able to provide appropriate resources and educational opportunities to support and meet the needs of individuals or groups of children.  However, if the child’s needs are more severe, we consider the child for an EHC plan (Educational, Health and Care Plan) and involve the appropriate external agencies when making this assessment.

As a school, we provide additional resources, support and intervention for children on EHC plans, along with set targets for improvement. These targets are monitored and reviewed at regular intervals to ensure progress and continuity in learning is taking place.

Special Educational Needs News

A big thank you to everyone who came to our latest parent coffee morning on 25th April, it was great to catch up with you all! It was a valuable chance to chat and catch up both with our school SENCo as well as with other parents while enjoying a cup of tea.

We were joined this time by a member of the Communication and Autism Team who was able to advise lots of our parents who had questions or concerns.

The details for our next coffee morning will be available soon
